secrets of selling yourself’ was

been a newspaper columnist , writing
as Mrs Motivator , on the psychology
of everyday life, and now she blogs
under that name.
She specializes in persuasion, motivation
and innovation. Her clients have included

But
her work that most interests people, has been
in politics. Philippa got her boots especially
muddy working on the Labour Party’s
1997 election campaign, advising campaign
organizers on motivation and coaching over
100 MPs on ‘Influencing Skills for the
Campaign Trail’. Prior to this , she’d
given advice to John Major , towards the end
of his tenure in No 10.
Philippa’s communication
style is sparky and funny, as befits someone
who’s written and presented for BBC
1 (Tomorrow the World) and Radio 5 (Speak
Up). In Wales, she helped select participants
for the lauded ‘Coal House’
series, historical re-enactment of life
in the mining valleys in the first half
of the twentieth century.
Every project Philippa tackles
has a high degree of interactivity for participants
and commitment. She recently facilitated
a conference for the NHS on Connecting for
Health and integrating IT, HR and Learning
and Development practice. In John Lewis,
she is focussing on helping integration
of the dot com business. She is learning
HTML coding and web design in order to fully
understand demands on such integration.
Her next book may be about people issues
and technology and her passionate belief
that technology can help people work smarter
and kinder.
Themes she can engage people
about include: motivating people through
churn; how to act like a leader –
even if you don’t feel like one; communication
as motivation; high-performing teams; secrets
of irresistibility:sellingproducts/services/relationships;
creative intelligence ; and for female audiences
–becoming a woman of influence.
Though she always cleans
her shoes before visiting clients, sometimes
Philippa’s boots may show muddy traces.
Her office is a converted cowshed next to
her barn home.
