In his 15 years service he served in Northern Ireland, Iraq and was attached to Special Forces. He received two commendations for Northern Ireland and his expeditions worldwide.

He is a qualified RYA Yacht Master and has been awarded the Royal Navy Sailing Associations Errol Bruce trophy on two occasions.

2005 – Attempted the first ever kite boat sail across the North Atlantic he endured hurricanes Irene, Katrina, Maria, Ophelia and finally Rita. On losing his sea anchor he was capsized 8 times before the vessel remained inverted. In mountainous seas and winds in excess of 70 knots waiting 30 hours for a rescue vessel in the perfect storm, he remarkably survived.

2004 – Lead a Royal Navy expedition to the Arctic to find remains of a lost ship, which they successfully found ‘The Victory’ lost for a 170 years to the ice. The expedition was in the heart of Polar Bear country and they were stalked by five bears under Dom’s leadership the party safely returned to the Inuit settlement of Taloyoak. The discoveries made during the expedition have been published and circulated worldwide.

2003 – Kayaked Solo through the Arctic’s Northwest Passage on route to the Magnetic Pole discovered in 1831. He was attacked by a Musk Ox breaking four of his ribs he kayaked a further 200 miles while being stalked by Polar Bears before reaching safety.

2001 – Rowed across the North Pacific Ocean from Japan to America. During the voyage he had to survive through 3 Cat 5 Typhoons in a 23 foot open boat. After rowing 5000 miles the voyage was cut short by a fishing trawler with no one on watch running down Dom’s row boat just 800 miles from America. Dom and Tim had rowed 5400 miles in 137 days.
